My Favourite Place: Michelle {Bexhill-on-Sea}

Good morning everyone. Today we have Michelle from Mummy From The Heart on the blog to tell us all about her favourite place. You can also find Michelle on Twitter and Instagram so make sure you go over and say hi 🙂

Tell me a little bit about yourself…

Hi, I’m Michelle, Mum to JJ (14) and twins Miss M and Miss E (who’ll be 11 very soon). I moved to East Sussex five years ago and gave up my crazy busy city life to be a work-at-home mum who gets to enjoy working around my family life demands and volunteering.

Where is your favourite place to visit?

My favourite place to visit is one of our local seaside towns – Bexhill-on-Sea

Why do you love it?

I adore Bexhill-on-Sea as it is never too busy, even in the summer months. It is like an undiscovered and unspoilt gem on the South coast.

Can you describe it for me?

Bexhill has everything you need for simple family fun. There is a superb flat promenade that goes on for miles and is perfect for cycling and scooting. All along the prom are spots to be able to stop and play – balance beams, climbing frames and stepping logs etc. It’s a pebble beach but that is perfect for stone skimming, beachcombing and rock pooling when the tide goes out. Talking of which, when it is out you can paddle and swim safely in the water with sand underfoot.

Away from the beachfront is Egerton park with a boating pond, ducks to feed, a sandpit, stunning play equipment and an exercise track and equipment. It’s the perfect place for a family picnic or maybe pick up some hot steaming chips from one of the many great fish and chips shops and enjoy those there.

No trip is complete without a visit to Di Paolos for authentic Italian gelato. There will be every flavor to delight you from salted caramel, to Kinder Bueno, to coconut ice. You can browse the charity shops were its easy to pick up a genuine bargain or maybe have dinner at Rustico where the pizza and Cannoli is amazing.

The de la Warr pavilion always has interesting and free art shows and exhibitions, as well as many great concerts and shows the whole year through. Prices are always reasonable and the venue is an architectural delight.

How often have you visited?

So many times, that I can’t even count. I never bore of visiting Bexhill.

Would you recommend other people visit and how would you sell it to them?

I would totally recommend that other people visit, especially families who like simple, good old fashioned beach fun. I think they can just read my description above and they’ll be sold and want to visit.

Tell me the one place you’d love to visit next and why?

I’ve hardly visited anywhere in the North of England or Scotland so next year I’d love to plan a family road trip to see some of the amazing scenery and sights that the North can provide.

Thanks so much for sharing Bexhill-on-Sea with us Michelle, it sound like a wonderful place that we as a family would love to visit. I’m hoping to make it down to the South Coast next year for a holiday as I have never been.
