Last week we spent an incredible week in North Devon, The weather was hot hot hot and we had a perfect week of sun, sea, sand and lots of fun. On Tuesday we decided to have a break from the beach and visit The Big Sheep in Bideford. This was about 40 minutes from Croyde Bay which is where we were staying for the week. The Big Sheep is an all weather attraction and is a great day out! The Big Sheep has won awards from the likes of Trip Advisor, Top 100 hundred Attractions and more.
We first visited The Big Sheep about three years ago so we knew exactly what to expect. Boo was really looking forward to Battlefield Live Combat games but unfortunately they were closed on the day we went so she was most disappointed about that but she isn’t one to whinge so she soon forgot about it and enjoyed a day full of fun 🙂
Both kids (and mum and dad) loved the Rampage Roller Coaster, I don’t think this was there last time we visited so this was a great addition. The Twister swing ride was also a firm favourite with our two. I think the kids spent most of their time on these two rides as there were no queues whatsoever so they were just able to stay on and keep going. Boo’s cap fell off the first time we went on the roller coaster but the lovely staff happily went and fetched it for her. After that they just left the hats at the side ready for when they got off.
To make the most of your day at The Big Sheep you really need to enjoy the shows that they put on, they have something going on every half an hour. The duck trials and bottle feeding the lambs are firm favourites with our family. There were so many adorable lambs which I could have spent all of my day watching. I just love them!
There is so much more for kids to do at The Big Sheep, we didn’t go into the indoor play area this time because the weather was so nice but there is a big indoor play zone. We spent all of our time enjoying the jumping pillows, football goal which Bugs would have played all day while Boo spent ages on the trampolines. Thankfully these two were next to each other so I could just sit and enjoy the sun 😉
There are a number of little rides like the tractor track and quad bikes at The Big Sheep which you do have to pay extra for. I think these were about £1.00 per go. My kids were too big for them so I was quite happy about that as I don’t like to be charged extra for things once I have paid to enter somewhere. The Big Sheep don’t hide this though, it is on their map that there is a small charge for these things and on their website.
I must also give a mention to The Barn Cafe because the food they serve is excellent. We have eaten at the cafe both times we have visited The Big Sheep now and I think it is really worth mentioning that the cafe is clean, the food is very high quality and the selection of food and drink available is very good.
We had a fantastic day out at The Big Sheep and will definitely be back again next time we are in North Devon. Thanks for having us 🙂
